Communism refers to the economic and social system in which all properties and resources are owned by a higher power and not by individual citizens. Its purpose and main goal is to shape a society in which private property and social class do not exist and the government will own practically everything, so the society is equally distributed. This is exactly what happened in Cuba more than 50 years ago. This was a country, which was actually a very fairly affluent nation, before the communism seized power. This has not only affected the community in general, but also there has been a drastic change in culture, demographics, political, social, and even on the health of uncountable individuals who suffer and struggle every day, with theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Still today, the government dominates economic activity on the island. National statistics are almost never complete or reliable. According to the Census Bareau, the United States exports approximately $200 million worth of products to Cuba, which includes meat, soybeans, corn and animal feed. Despite the embargo, the U.S. still does business with Cuba, which helps the country to progress and give a little hope to its people. Also, growth has slowed drastically in recent years. It is important to clarify that. According toCuban national statistical agency, the countryââ¬â¢s gross domestic product in 2013 was 77.2 billion pesos. The CIA estimates that Cubaââ¬â¢s GDP didnââ¬â¢t grow much, only 1.3% last year in real, which refers to the inflation-adjusted and ranked 177th out of 222 countries. The reason is that the oil price all around the world is still well below their pre-recession highs. This is due to the incredible low oil price that Venezuela would give Cuba, which is then re-exported to other countries and then loose value. Cubans donââ¬â¢t see results by working for the government, they think that it is a waste of time and they work like slaves for no deserved salary. As a consequen ce, more and more people are working for themselves. Sadistically, in 2013, according to state figures, more than 424,000 Cubans (8.6% of all workers) were classified as self-employed,
